Sihanoukville (FN), May. 1 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed all ministries and institutions, both national and sub-national, to promptly address any matters related to their respective ministries and institutions in order to prevent misrepresentation that could lead to misunderstandings or confusion among the public.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (May 1) during his meeting with workers at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that in the past, there have always been individuals who exploit opportunities to attack and discredit leadership, as well as issues related to certain institutions. Failure of ministries and institutions to provide explanations can lead to public confusion. Instances such as the Kampot province port case and the bomb explosion incident resulting in the death of 20 soldiers have been subject to misrepresentation.

In these situations, both the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Works are required to step forward and provide explanations to ensure public understanding and prevent confusion.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei further stated that all clarifications on any issue must be comprehensive, enabling widespread understanding among the people, and should not solely rely on Samdech Thipadei to defend alone.

Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored, "I just confirm with Minister of Public Works and Transport Peng Ponea, and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chanthol, that if there are complaints about this, it will distort the issue of the port in Kampot. They must immediately come forward and provide explanations. We also have the right to be concerned about whether the port in question is operational or not. We must have the right to defend ourselves and not be left alone to do so. Ministries and institutions need to react promptly and address all aspects, rather than focusing solely on one aspect. By the time criticisms reach us, millions of people have already seen all the advertisements in the system. We want our people to know the truth."

At the same time, all municipalities in every province must also effectively communicate to the people to understand the real benefits that the Royal Government has provided.
