Sihanoukville (FN), May 1 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet unveiled that he formed the “Special Intervention Force” to strictly adhere to his direct orders and resolve all remaining challenges.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (May 1) during his meeting with workers at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

Samdech Thipadei continued that the "Special Intervention Force" was established in addition to the existing mechanism with the purpose of monitoring, evaluating, and resolving challenges under the Prime Minister's Office.

"I have set up a mechanism [Special Intervention Force]. If any project, plan, or regulation is not finalized or is still blocked and institutional coordination is still missing, the force will assist the case,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei mentioned that this special mechanism is not to solve issue on behalf of the ministries and institutions, but to help address all challenges.

Regarding the Special Intervention Force, the premier pointed out that the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port has not yet fully utilised its potential. In the past, Samdech Thipadei pushed for the establishment of a cellular interface with the Special Economic Zones to extract potential.

However, the remaining issue that has not been resolved is to push for the establishment of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port as a Transitman area, but this has not been successful due to the fact that some customs procedures have not been resolved.

In this regard, Premier Hun Manet advised the special force to work with the Sihanoukville Autonomous Customs Port, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and relevant institutions to report directly to him to resolve all remaining issues.
