Phnom Penh (FN), May 20 – Given the significant economic growth in the Kingdom of Cambodia, particularly the surging demand for electricity exceeding initial estimates, Maritime Group, led by Neak Okhna Heng Sithy, an esteemed investment company in Cambodia, and Xinglan Group, a prominent investor in Renewable Energy in China, have formed Xinglan Maritime Energy Co Ltd's (XME). This collaboration aims to invest in wind power, aligning with the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia to address the sector's needs.

Upon receiving approval from the Ministry of Mines and Energy on 7 May 2019, Xinglan Maritime Energy Co Ltd's (XME) commenced studying the project to generate 100 MW of wind power in Mondulkiri. A joint technical team, comprising experts from China, closely collaborated with local institutions in the province to establish technical standards, research documents, and identify potential locations using satellite and GPS measurements in Sen Monorom town and O’Raing district. This meticulous approach ensures the successful implementation of the investment project.

Currently, the company awaits the results of electricity price negotiations with relevant authorities and the official decision of the Royal Government before commencing its plans. Furthermore, the company anticipates that Mondulkiri province, with its natural beauty and potential for tourism, will attract both national and international tourists to visit the new wind turbine locations. Additionally, the establishment of a local airport in Mondulkiri will facilitate travel, enhancing the province's appeal.
