Phnom Penh (FN), May 29 – The First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) Sun Chanthol held a bilateral talk with EU Ambassador to Cambodia Igor Driesmans on Wednesday (May 29) at the CDC.

The meeting discussed the preparations of concerned parties for the upcoming mission to promote Cambodia’s investment opportunities and potential in two European countries — Germany and Spain. This mission is based on the agreement to 11 March 2024 meeting between Peteris Ustubs, Director for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific of the EU’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and EU ambassador to Cambodia Igor Driesmans. Following this meeting, all stakeholders will reconvene to discuss technical aspects online, ensuring the mission in Europe is thoroughly facilitated.

Taking this occasion, Sun Chanthol expressed Cambodia’s readiness for investment diversification by attracting investors from all countries and potential companies, as well as using the “Plus-One Strategy” to increase the diversity of investment companies in Cambodia, especially to promote foreign direct investment in new industries such as electronics, automobiles, components, and food processing.

Lastly, the ambassador voiced his support for the “knock on the door“ mission of the CDC to Europe in June.
