Phnom Penh (FN), May 31 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet considered that the presence of the Filipino Boxer and also Former Senator Manny Pacquiao in Cambodia will contribute to the promotion of the kingdom’s sports and tourism.

Premier Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Manny Pacquiao on 30 May 2023 at the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) headquarters.

During the meeting, Manny Pacquiao thanked Samdech Thipadei for the opportunity to meet and discuss their work. He expressed his pleasure in collaborating with Cambodia and sharing his experiences related to boxing.

Manny Pacquiao underlined that boxing is a unique and challenging sport that requires rigorous training, high discipline, and a clear understanding of principles to build a successful career as a renowned boxer.

Manny Pacquiao also informed Samdech Thipadei that he will participate in promoting Khmer boxing and will meet with prominent Cambodian boxers to share the spirit of boxing. He intends to share his extensive experiences as a world-class professional boxer, competing at many levels and in different weight classes.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed Manny Pacquiao for his second visit to Cambodia, following his first visit in 2016 when he accompanied former President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte on a state visit to Cambodia.

Premier Hun Manet also underscored that Manny Pacquiao will contribute to the promotion of sports and tourism, and to the development of Cambodia-Philippines relations through people-to-people connectivity.
