Phnom Penh (FN), May 31 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet revealed plan to organisr the transformation of various Khmer martial arts into fighting competitions like MMA. In this regard, Samdech Thipadei believed that the kingdom's martial arts would gain recognition.

The premier spoke on Friday (May 31) during the meeting with Cambodian Artists under the theme "Heirs" in Phnom Penh.

“After returning from an overseas meeting and watching Chinese movies featuring soldiers practicing Kung Fu, I realized that Cambodia has martial arts like Bokator, Kun Khmer, and Yut Kun Kom that we can promote, especially in the military. We can combine these three martial arts for use in our armed forces," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued, "We now have a martial arts association to safeguard our heritage. In discussions with Minister Thong Khon, we recognised the abundance of Khmer martial arts and the need to preserve them, even with limited trainers. We're preparing to introduce a mixed martial arts competition that, like MMA, will feature only Khmer martial arts."

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet considered the Khmer Artists Association as a partner of the Royal Government in preserving the cultural heritage of Cambodia. He also called on the Cambodian people to work together to preserve and protect Cambodian art and culture.
