Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 4 – Regarding the South China Sea dispute, Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen told the US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin that all stakeholders must strictly adhere to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties (DOC) to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Samdech Techo called for joint resolution of disputes among involved parties and the achievement of the Code of Conduct (COC) agreement, which Cambodia has been striving for, particularly during its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022, to ensure long-term security in the South China Sea.

Samdech Techo spoke in a courtesy call by the US Secretary of Defense on Tuesday (Jun. 4) at the Senate.

Both sides also exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle East conflict, agreeing that war is not a solution. They stressed the need for a negotiated resolution and agreed on a two-state solution for the Middle East to provide lasting peace for Israel and Palestine.
