Kampot (FN), Jun. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on the people to unite in support of the Funan Techo Canal project to bring it to fruition and to reap its shared benefits.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jun. 6) during an inauguration for the official use of Kampot multi-purpose port in Kampot province.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "The Funan Techo canal project involves infrastructure development, but its expansion will inevitably require some sacrifice from the people along its path. Please join us so that we can all reap the benefits."

In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that upon completion of the Funan Techo canal, residents along its path will have access to water for travel throughout the year.

The Funan Techo Canal Project aims to connect waterways between rivers to the sea of Cambodia, passing through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces. It is about 180 kilometres long. The project is expected to cost about USD 1.7 billion and has been studied in detail.
