Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 10 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that civil servants serve the citizens, not as their superiors, but as equals. They serve the citizens as they serve themselves, recognising that everyone is also a citizen.

The premier spoke on Monday morning (Jun. 10) at the closing of 2023 and opening of 2024 training courses of the Royal School of Administration in Phnom Penh.

“Every civil servant is also a citizen. When we step out of our positions and leave the workplace, we become ordinary members of society, residing in villages and communities. Upon retirement, we are just like any other citizen, with our families also part of the community. Therefore, we serve the citizens as we serve ourselves and our families," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that nobody wants the headaches of negotiations or the uncertainty of receiving public services. Therefore, we must provide stable and reliable public services. We must work together to build a more efficient and stable environment for accessing public services, both now and in the future. It is the duty of every official to participate in this effort.
