Singapore (FN), Jun. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that on connectivity and infrastructure development, the construction of expressways, deep seaports, international airports, logistics hubs, and in-land waterway—particularly the Funan- Techo Canal which its groundbreaking ceremony will be held on August 5, this year—are enhancing regional connectivity and ensuring efficient access to vital economic corridors within Cambodia and throughout the region.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 19) during the Cambodia-Singapore Business Forum.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that these strategic investments directly benefit businesses by reducing logistics costs and improving operational efficiency, enabling them to fully leverage the vast potential of the regional market.

While membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) solidifies its commitment to open trade and fair practices.

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei warmly invited all Singaporean investors to explore the abundant opportunities in Cambodia’s dynamic and burgeoning market.

Samdech Thipadei underscored that Singapore has become one of Cambodia’s top trade and investment partners, with a dynamic exchange of goods and services. Regarding investment, in 2023, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 268 investment projects, amounting to nearly USD 4.9 billion. In the first five months of 2024, the CDC approved a total of 153 projects valued at USD 2.75 billion, a fourfold increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that in addition to the protection that guarantees investment, there is no discrimination between local and foreign investors and no restriction on remittance of profit and capital. The Royal Government has also introduced the Special Program to Promote Investment in Preah Sihanouk Province 2024, offering special benefits to investors beyond the Law on Investment, positioning the province as a regional hub for diverse sectors.
