Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 19 – Cambodian Delegate Minister Jean François Tan briefed the major achievements of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet's official visit to Singapore and the outcomes of the premier's bilateral talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Delegate minister spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 19) at the press conference on the outcomes of the premier’s official visit to the Republic of Singapore.

Singapore becomes the fifth ASEAN member country visited by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and this is also the first meeting between the premier and the newly appointed Singaporean Prime Minister.

"During official visit of Prime Minister Hun Manet to Singapore from 18-19 June 2024, leaders of the two countries underlined the deep-rooted and long-lasting relationship. With 2025 marking the 60th anniversary of Cambodia-Singapore diplomatic ties, they agreed to continue regular political consultations between their Foreign Ministries to broaden cooperation in potential sectors," Minister Jean François Tan underscored.

In the meeting between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Singaporean leaders, discussions primarily focused on trade, investment, and food security. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet urged the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce and the Singaporean Embassy in Phnom Penh to maintain regular dialogue and exchange information on the economy, trade, and investment.

In addition, Delegate Minister Jean François Tan continued that the Cambodian side also requested the Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce and the Singapore Food Agency to continue to strengthen cooperation because Cambodia can supply rice, vegetables, fruits, and seafood to Singapore, which is constantly strengthening its capabilities in the field of food security. This will enable Singapore and Cambodia to increase the trade volume between the two countries, which increased steadily from 2019 to 2022.

On people-to-people exchanges, Cambodia and Singapore vowed to cooperate more closely on cooperation in education and vocational training, especially in technical and technology. Singapore pledged to assist Cambodia in building human capital. Both countries also celebrated the influx of Singaporean tourists visiting Cambodia and Cambodian tourists visiting Singapore.

On the energy security, Cambodia and Singapore jointly celebrated the smooth progress of the inland and underwater power transmission line project.

On the defence sector, Cambodia and Singapore decided to strengthen cooperation in combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime and online fraud. Cambodia also reaffirmed its readiness to strengthen military cooperation, especially between military units, in the fight against terrorism.

Cambodia and Singapore also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Government Cooperation between the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information of Singapore. Both sides announced the launch of the Financial Transparency Corridor (FTC) project.
