Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet requested the Singaporean counterpart to expand its flights to Cambodia by launching direct flights from Singapore to Sihanoukville. In addition, Samdech Thipadei also requested Singapore to increase the number of existing flights from Singapore to Phnom Penh and from Singapore to Siem Reap.

The premier made this request during a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on 18 June 2024.

Cambodian Delegate Minister Jean François Tan spoke on Wednesday (Jun. 19) at the press conference on the outcomes of PM Hun Manet’s official visit to the Republic of Singapore.

Delegate Minister Jean François Tan underlined, "Regarding people-to-people Cambodian-Singapore relations, we congratulate the steady increase in the number of Cambodian tourists to Singapore and Singaporean tourists to Cambodia. Therefore, tourism consultants and the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia must continue to work with the Singaporean side. Additionally, the prime minister requested the Singaporean side to launch direct flights from Singapore to Sihanoukville, in addition to the existing direct flights from Singapore to Phnom Penh and Singapore to Siem Reap."

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed satisfaction with the increase of direct flights to 50 per week and the growing number of travellers between Cambodia and Singapore. They agreed that encouraging tourism, including visitors from third countries, is another area to be intensified.
