Tbong Khmum (FN), Jun. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the country's history unfolds in three main phases, each seamlessly connected to the next.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jun. 20) on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of marching towards national salvation, held in Tbong Khmum province.

Samdech Thipadei outlined that the first phase began with the resistance movement to overthrow the genocidal regime on 20 June 1977. This movement, led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and a few fighters, departed from the Koh Thmor X16 area on the Vietnamese border. It culminated in the formation of the National Salvation on 12 May 1978, abbreviated as "A125," which was the first military organization, and the establishment of the first political organization, the Kampuchea United Front for National Salvation on 2 December 1978. Under the leadership of Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Samdech Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, and Samdech Techo Hun Sen, this organization achieved victory and liberated the nation from Pol Pot's genocidal regime on 7 January 1979.

Samdech Thipadei continued, the second phase involved defending, rehabilitating, and rebuilding the nation from the ground up. With one hand holding a weapon to prevent the return of the Pol Pot regime and the other hand working to build the nation, Cambodia navigated through negotiation and conflict until achieving the Paris Peace Agreement on 23 October 1991. This phase culminated in the launch of the win-win policy, which ended the civil war and brought peace and territorial unity to Cambodia for the first time in over 500 years.

Prime Minister Hun Manet added that the third phase marks a new chapter in the revolution against the color revolution, focusing on maintaining peace as the foundation for the country's development. This phase ensures the harmony of all Cambodians under the enduring peace achieved through the win-win policy.

Samdech Thipadei considered this an invaluable historical fact that the next generation of Cambodians must remember.
