Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 21 – Since 1948, the United Nations Peacekeeping (UNPKO) has been crucial in maintaining global peace and security, deploying operations in over 70 countries to stabilize conflict areas, protect civilians, and foster sustainable peace.

There are two major types of contributions a country can make towards UN Peacekeeping operations: personnel and financial. The top contributors for both are visualized in the graphic.

However, more personnel contributors come from developing countries than from developed ones due to:

1. Regional Interest: Promoting regional stability and security.

2. Recognition and Prestige: Enhancing international standing and image.

3. Financial Benefits: Receiving UN reimbursements, aiding economically challenged nations.
