Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 25 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the value of online learning as an effective educational tool in modern education and it is essential for addressing current training needs.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jun. 25) during an inauguration of Cambodia Cyber University Network at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei underlined, "Innovation and the use of creative tools to facilitate online learning are crucial. While traditional classroom learning has its merits, it's not necessarily superior to online learning. The effectiveness of either method depends on the individual student."

"Online learning is not a new concept. It has been practiced globally for a long time. I recall an online learning campaign in the United States in the early 2000s. Today, almost all universities, including top institutions like Harvard, offer online courses. The world's leading universities are embracing online education,” Samdech Thipadei added.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that online courses are essential for modern, flexible training needs, eliminating the necessity for fixed class hours. In Cambodia, online teaching gained prevalence during the COVID19 pandemic. He noted that while online education has been around for a long time, the method has evolved; in the 90s, teachers used TV broadcasts due to limited internet access.
