Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed pride in seeing veterans who once fought against each other during the civil war now living peacefully side by side in the same village.

The premier presided over the celebration of the 17th Cambodian Veterans Day, 21 June 2024, on Wednesday (Jun. 26) at the National Defence University, Phnom Penh.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also thanked the working group, especially Senior Minister General Kun Kim. He added that this work must continue, noting that the Royal Government has implemented many policies, including the National Social Security Fund for veterans. Additionally, some veterans' families receive support through IDPoor cards. The Royal Government is also considering several frameworks for further support.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei affirmed that the Cambodian People's Party will continue to prioritize and honour veterans and former civil servants as long as it remains in power. He made this statement in response to claims that the Royal Government had neglected veterans and retired civil servants.
