Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced his firm stance against supporting any reforms that would negatively impact veterans, speaking on Wednesday (Jun. 26) on the occasion of the celebration of the 17th Cambodian Veterans Day.

The premier affirmed that the purpose of this celebration is to inspire future generations of Cambodian children to remember and honour history and those who have shaped it. Whether ten, twenty, or fifty years from now, it is crucial to continue acknowledging and respecting the contributions of veterans.

There are three key objectives for veterans: honour, livelihood, and opportunity. These goals are essential for the well-being and recognition of all veterans, the premier added.

Samdech Thipadei underlined, "As long as the Cambodian People's Party has the opportunity to lead, we will continue to prioritize the lives and honour of veterans and former civil servants. We must keep improving their conditions and continue to support each other."

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also thanked the working group, especially Senior Minister General Kun Kim. He added that this work must continue, noting that the Royal Government has implemented many policies, including the National Social Security Fund for veterans. Additionally, some veterans' families receive support through IDPoor cards. The Royal Government is also considering several frameworks for further support.
