Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 27 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that he recently met with Kong Vibol, Cambodian Delegate Minister in charge as Director General of the General Department of Taxation (GDT), and encouraged the use of digital systems on tax work as much as possible to reduce bureaucracy.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jun. 27) at the celebration of the first National Day of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME Day 2024), held at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"Yesterday, I met with Kong Vibol to discuss advancing the online tax system to simplify processes," the premier underlined. "The General Department of Taxation, under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, has initiated reforms. Additionally, we introduced the CamDX software system for registration with the Ministry of Commerce. The Ministry of Public Works has also made significant contributions. These efforts are essential to streamline bureaucracy."

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that while the government has implemented significant reforms, some changes are challenging, often differing from the private sector's approach. He highlighted the need to address reforms during difficult times, as easier periods may overlook critical issues. He also highlighted the Royal Government's strategy to evaluate and prepare reforms during economic challenges, aiming for effective and impactful changes.
