Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 28 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), underlined the significance of the Cambodian nation's revival from the genocidal regime, the establishment of complete peace, and the ongoing development as crucial historical realities that all Cambodians should understand and always remember.

Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Jun. 28) on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), held at the CPP’s headquarters.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also affirmed the party's enduring commitment to the people of Cambodia. He underlined that the CPP has been a steadfast political force for 73 years, consistently aligning with the aspirations of the people and upholding ideals of patriotism, democracy, and peace.

Reflecting on Cambodia's history, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored the CPP's pivotal role in overthrowing the brutal Pol Pot regime and restoring freedom and rights to the nation. Following this historic victory, the party has worked tirelessly to achieve and maintain complete peace for over 25 years, enabling rapid national development.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that Cambodia has transitioned from a low-income to a lower-middle-income country and is striving to become a higher-middle-income country by 2030, with aspirations for high-income status by 2050. Samdech Techo also continued that the successful conduct of recent elections, including the Commune/District Election in 2022 and various other national and local elections, as evidence of Cambodia's evolving democratic maturity.
