Kampong Cham (FN), Jul. 2 – Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina announced that Cambodia exported 50 tonnes of aquaculture products in 2023 and 38 tonnes in early 2024 to China.

The minister spoke on 1 July 2024 during the celebration of the 19th National Fish Day in Kampong Cham province.

"Cambodia exported nearly 3,000 tonnes of fresh and processed aquaculture products by 2022 and more than 3,500 tonnes by 2023 to neighbouring countries. Additionally, Cambodia exported 50 tonnes in 2023 and 38 tonnes in early 2024 to China after the two countries signed a free trade agreement in 2020," Minister Dith Tina underscored.

Notably, Cambodia also exported 3.7 tonnes of dried fish to Australia for the first time in early 2024. These achievements result from close cooperation with development partners to improve the quality, safety, and processing of Cambodian aquaculture products for both local and international markets.

It should be noted that Cambodia's aquaculture products exported to international markets in 2023 included 3,424 tonnes of fresh fishery products and 186 tonnes of processed fishery products. Exports to China included 1 tonne of live embroidered lobster, 2 tonnes of frozen eel, and 47 tonnes of frozen lobster.

In addition, in the first five months of 2024, Cambodia exported about 38 tonnes of fishery products to the Chinese market, including 35.80 tonnes of frozen lobster, 2.30 tonnes of live prawns, and about 0.2 tonnes of live eels.
