Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Royal Government has no policy to prohibit philanthropists and communities from participating in building schools. Instead, it encourages communities and philanthropists to engage in promoting education.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jul. 4) during a graduation ceremony and an inauguration of teachers' dormitory at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College.

"We have no right to prohibit parents or philanthropists from helping to develop schools or contribute to school achievements," Samdech Thipadei underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that in some areas, due to the urgent needs of the state, issues have not yet been resolved, leading teachers to arrange temporary classrooms with the help of the community. While the state constructs school buildings annually, community involvement in the education sector remains crucial.

Premier Hun Manet also instructed Education minister to ensure that no mechanisms restrict parents or guardians to contribute only to the school or state teachers. He added that in the past, Samdech Techo Hun Sen implemented numerous construction policies across the country, including support from various philanthropists for schools.

Through the Public Community Partnership (PCP) formula, Samdech Thipadei announced continued encouragement for community, parent, and teacher participation in promoting education.
