Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that improving teachers' living standards requires not only salary increases but also reducing living expenses by providing social security funds for medical treatment and health examinations.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jul. 4) during a graduation ceremony and an inauguration of teachers' dormitory at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College.

"Thinking about the teachers' livelihoods, especially salaries, is important, but addressing salaries is not the only solution. Reducing living expenses by providing social security funds for health and assisting pregnant teachers is also a priority,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei stressed the importance of enhancing teachers' qualifications and professional development. The national budget is aimed at expanding the education sector in Cambodia, but the demand continues to grow with the evolving society, the premier added.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei stressed the importance of considering regional fees and other factors in addition to teachers' salaries. He acknowledged that the careers of doctors and teachers demand exceptional dedication and a clear commitment to improving human life and developing human resources.
