Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 19 – President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Samdech Techo Hun Sen sent a condolence letter to Vietnamese President To Lam on the passing of Nguyen Phu Trong, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

“I have learned with profound sorrow about the recent passing of His Excellency Nguyen Phu Trong, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, on 19 July 2024,” according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Friday night (Jul. 19).

“His departure represents an immense loss for the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and more so for the entire Vietnamese people. His legacy as a wise statesman who has dedicated his entire life to the struggle for the independence of Viet Nam and for the peace and prosperity of the Vietnamese people will be remembered for many generations to come.

Under his leadership, he has forged a strong bond of fraternal friendship with Cambodia and has persevered over many years to elevate the close cooperation not only between the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of Viet Nam, but also between our two governments and peoples.

On behalf of the Cambodian People's Party and the people of Cambodia, allow me to convey my heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, and particularly to His Excellency Nguyen Phu Trong's bereaved family, at this moment of great sadness.”
