Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 23 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the courts to punish those who distort and misrepresent facts related to the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA). According to Samdech Techo, three individuals have already been arrested for falsifying information.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke on Tuesday (Jul. 23) in a special message on the CLV-DTA.

Samdech Techo underlined that slander and distortion regarding the DTA initiative between Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam is a serious insult that is unacceptable and intolerable.

Samdech Techo underscored, "Is there any agreement related to the exchange of sovereignty? If there were, why would it be necessary for the three countries to demarcate their borders together? This accusation is an intolerable insult. I ask the court to impose the maximum penalty and request the Ministry of Justice and the prisons not to place these individuals on any list for commutation or pardon. They should serve their full sentences because this is a grave matter and a serious insult.”

Samdech Techo also announced that the three people arrested were from Siem Reap province. One was arrested yesterday, and the other two were arrested today and sent to Phnom Penh for trial.

In the special message, Samdech Techo clarified that the DTA cooperation between Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam does not involve territorial integration. This agreement focuses on economic, social, security, and defence cooperation, with each party managing its own territory and development while contributing to interconnected and complementary growth. This cooperation has provided economic benefits to all three countries.
