Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 30 – Cambodia and the Philippines announced their intention to continue strengthening and broadening army cooperation.

The announcement was made during a courtesy call by Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lieutenant General Roy M. Galido, on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on 29 July 2024, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido praised the fruitful development of relations and cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Cambodia. He expressed his optimism and pledged to further strengthen and broaden Philippines-Cambodia army cooperation.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed his appreciation for the results of the cooperation between the two countries' armed forces and highly valued the joint training courses that have contributed to capacity building and mutual understanding in readiness to respond to potential threats.

Both sides also discussed and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries through continued joint training, human resource development, information sharing, and experience exchange. Especially, on combating cybercrime, capacity building, disaster relief operations, providing humanitarian assistance, and promoting unit-to-unit cooperation between the two armies in the future.
