Phnom Penh (FN), Jul. 31 – The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) would like to inform the public that recent investigations have revealed irregularities, resulting in penalties imposed on mobile network operators for 1) deactivating the active mobile phone numbers and then reselling those numbers, and 2) deducting balances from customers’ mobile phone accounts contrary to the published tariff and terms of roaming services, according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Jul. 31).

"To promote fair and honest competition as well as to protect consumer interests, the TRC urges all consumers to report to the TRC by calling 6789 during business hours or by emailing to [email protected] in the following cases:

- Your mobile phone number has been deactivated or resold without complying with the grace period after the expiration of the mobile phone balance as stipulated in Guideline No. 8021TRC dated 14 August 2023.

- Balances in your mobile phone account have been deducted contrary to the published tariff and terms of roaming services.

- Subscribing to any mobile phone plans, packages, or value-added services resulting in balance deductions without prior consent from the consumers.

- Failing to receive a proper resolution from the mobile network operator regarding your complaint."
