Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet regarded the reaction of foreign analysts posing as experts on the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA) as an opportunity to push the situation, causing citizens to rebel and take political advantage.

The premier spoke on Friday (Aug. 2) during his gala dinner with the Cambodian Oknha Association and the Housing Development Association of Cambodia.

The analysis of extremist groups abroad is seen as an attempt to incite confusion and lead to demonstrations, similar to the situation in Bangladesh. Samdech Thipadei further suggested that this group intends to incite chaos.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that if these analysts had genuine intentions, they would have reacted from the very beginning, since 1999, and not waited for more than 25 years and over 10 meetings to become candidates and claim to know everything now.

The premier underscored, "I ask analysts who always boast about knowing everything for 25 years, why they have just woken up now if they truly know how to predict. If they really knew, they should have reacted since 1999, because this meeting has taken place over 10 times since then. Maybe they did not know or understand. But these people are just taking the opportunity to push the situation; why didn't they speak out for 25 years and are only now waking up or seizing the opportunity to incite chaos?"

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued by dividing the analysts into three groups. The first group comprises politicians who want to confuse the people, and the second group pushes the people to protest using the same tactics seen in Bangladesh. According to Samdech Thipadei, these two groups represent only about 0.2 per cent of the population.

Please be informed that the CLV-DTA, established in 1999 by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, aims to transform the border area into a development zone fostering peace and prosperity among Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. This initiative seeks to connect the economy and infrastructure in these border areas.

The CLV-DTA consists of 13 provinces. Vietnam has five provinces, Laos has four provinces, and Cambodia has four provinces, namely Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, and Stung Treng. This region, rich in natural resources and biodiversity, is crucial for connecting the area to a dynamic economic center, attracting investment, and supporting production networks in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
