Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that, effective from 1 September 2024, foreigners entering Cambodia through the three international airports will be able to pay their visa fees online, eliminating the need to queue and pay in cash.

The premier spoke on Friday (Aug. 2) during his gala dinner with the Cambodian Oknha Association and the Housing Development Association of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that this facilitation for foreign travellers is aimed at attracting tourists to Cambodia and reducing unnecessary requirements.

The electronic payment service applies to tax payments, visa applications on arrival, and visa applications at embassies or consulates abroad.

"Currently, I have coordinated this work for the Ministry of Economy and Finance to host the meeting from 1 September 2024, at our three international airports. This includes tax payment, visa application on arrival, and visa applications at embassies or consulates abroad. Everything will be done electronically, so tourists and arrivals will no longer need to use cash," the premier underscored.

Regarding the visa application process, Samdech Thipadei mentioned that it was previously implemented in two different ways: first, applying at embassies or consulates abroad by filling in a paper form, and second, applying for a visa on arrival and queuing to pay the immigration, customs, and health fees. Now, the process will be organized electronically, eliminating the need for paper forms.

Additionally, the premier advised all stakeholders, especially those at international airports, to offer warm hospitality to travellers entering Cambodia, emphasizing that good hospitality is key to attracting more tourists.
