Kandal (FN), Aug. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has pledged to make the Funan Techo Canal a reality and address concerns about potential losses of national sovereignty related to the project.

The premier spoke on Monday (Aug. 5) during a groundbreaking ceremony of Funan Techo Canal.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that some people still believe the Royal Government might be compromising sovereignty and territory if public concerns are not addressed, leading to distrust in the government.

Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored, "When we have doubts about each other, it makes it easier for the nation to fall apart. Therefore, to address our internal concerns and doubts, we need to complete this project so that our people can see the results. We need to show that it is real and confirm its success through tangible outcomes."

Samdech Thipadei further added that to alleviate national worries and doubts that might cause division, the Royal Government must produce results and act swiftly. The government has decided to advance the canal project's timeline from December to August. Everyone must support and leverage this project to develop the nation and defend its independence and sovereignty.
