Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined that when Cambodian citizens have doubts, it can be very dangerous, especially as it can lead to national division. Samdech Thipadei urged Cambodian citizens and scholars to remain calm.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Aug. 6) during a graduation ceremony for University of Puthisastra students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

"We must proceed with the Funan Techo Canal, and the Royal Government is committed to this project. It won't take 100 years; it will be completed in just a few years,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued, the construction of the Funan Techo Canal is a demonstration of efforts to strengthen national defence. It is good for Cambodians to be concerned about the loss of territory, but they should also be thoughtful and make efforts to strengthen their capacity.

The Funan Techo Canal project aims to connect waterways between rivers and the sea of Cambodia, passing through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces. It spans approximately 180 kilometers. The project is expected to cost about USD 1.7 billion and has been studied in detail.
