Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 12 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to taking strict measures against individuals attempting to incite chaos or undermine peace through illegal riots, speaking in a special voice message on Monday (Aug. 12).

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, no country in the world refrains from acting against illegal riots, including Britain, which deploys its armed forces to enforce the law. Therefore, Cambodia will take similar legal measures as other nations.

"The riots in Britain were suppressed by British armed forces. [...] Should the Royal Government of Cambodia allow such situations to spiral out of control? The Royal Government will take all necessary legal measures to preserve peace and protect the lives of its citizens," Samdech Techo underscored.

Samdech Techo also noted that some citizens, especially those abroad, have drawn comparisons between events in Bangladesh and Cambodia to incite unrest. He made it clear that while protests are tolerated, the Royal Government will not extend forgiveness to those who cross the line.

Furthermore, Samdech Techo Hun Sen addressed claims by ill-intended group claiming that he is powerless to lead the nation. He remarked that such accusations have been made against him since the 1980s, even during threats from the Khmer Rouge.

Samdech Techo reiterated that he retains legislative power as well as the authority of the Cambodian People's Party to uphold the commitment to maintaining peace and political stability for the citizens.
