Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 16 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen sent a condolence letter to Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith over the Typhoon Yagi tragedy.
“I have noted significant damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in the northern provinces of Laos and the urgent actions being taken by the competent authorities in response to rising water levels along the Mekong River,” according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Monday (Sep. 16).
“Of particular concern is the flooding situation in Luang Namtha province, where 35 villages and special economic zones have been flooded, resulting in 1 death and evacuation of a hospital.
In this time of profound sorrow, on behalf of the people of Cambodia, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to you and, through you, to the families of the victims as well as the Government and people of the Lao People's Democratic Republic for these losses. I wish to express solidarity with our Lao neighbors during this challenging time. I have full confidence in the protective and rescue measures being implemented and wish Lao PDR a speedy and complete recovery from this natural disaster.
