Vientiane (FN), Oct. 9 – Cambodia and Laos expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the progress in their strong relations and cooperation.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral talk with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on Tuesday (Oct.8) in Vientiane, Laos.

During the meeting, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and the high-level delegation, who were invited to attend the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane.

Sonexay Siphandone commended the achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei, which have improved the lives of the Cambodian people and elevated Cambodia’s standing on the regional and international stage.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the Lao prime minister and reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for Laos as ASEAN Chair in 2024.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress of relations and cooperation between the two countries, which have strengthened and expanded across various sectors, particularly since elevating the relationship to a "Comprehensive and Long-lasting Strategic Partnership" in 2019.

The two leaders also discussed enhancing and expanding cooperation in several potential areas, including politics, defense and security, trade and investment, tourism, finance, energy, education, and infrastructure development connecting the two countries.
