Vientiane (FN), Oct. 9 –ASEAN leaders kicked off the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits on Wednesday (Oct 9) in Vientiane, Laos.
The Summit was chaired by Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith and attended by Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, and East Timorese Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao.
The Summits under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience" will focus on further advancing ASEAN Community building towards the realisation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and enhancing relations with ASEAN's external partners through ASEAN-led mechanisms with an aim to strengthen connectivity and resilience in the region and beyond as well as to address present and emerging challenges effectively.
