Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on Cambodian Red Cross youth to uphold their values by adopting a unified moral and ethical approach in their good deeds, thereby increasing the value of the Cambodian Red Cross in the hearts of the citizens.
The premier spoke on Saturday (Oct. 19) during his meeting with 4,742 Cambodian Red Cross Youth volunteers at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei noted that the effectiveness of the organization's activities depends on those who carry them out—both the leadership and members at the central, capital, and provincial levels, who work together wherever there is a need. The Red Cross is always present to assist those in need, which increases its value and builds trust among the people. It is difficult to create, maintain, and increase the value of the Red Cross in the hearts of Cambodians.
"I would like to call on the nearly 5,000 members of the Cambodian Red Cross today to recognize that we are the ones who set and uphold these values. Wearing the Red Cross uniform, people may not know our names, but they recognize us as Red Cross youth dedicated to doing good deeds. However, if any member does wrong, it reflects on all of us. Therefore, the actions of each member directly affect the value of the tens of thousands of Red Cross youth," the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei also noted that as Red Cross volunteers, the youth should begin by helping themselves, ensuring that they do not become a burden on society. Instead, they should contribute to society, support their families, and assist others—not necessarily through financial means, but by doing good deeds, upholding morals and virtues, and helping one another in times of need. This spirit of cooperation is what sustains and enhances the reputation of the Cambodian Red Cross.
