Jakarta (FN), Oct. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Jusuf Kalla, former Chairman of CAPDI and former Vice President of Indonesia, on 19 October 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei expressed his pleasure in meeting with the former Chairman of CAPDI. He also conveyed greetings from Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who has been a long-time friend of Jusuf Kalla. Samdech Thipadei invited him to attend the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in November, which will be hosted by Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei also extended an invitation to enjoy the Water Festival, which will coincide with the conference. Additionally, he acknowledged Indonesia's significant and invaluable contributions to Cambodia’s peace, stability, and socio-economic development during the 1980s and 1990s.
Jusuf Kalla expressed optimism about the progress of Cambodia-Indonesia relations and cooperation. He discussed the promotion and establishment of communication mechanisms at all levels, both in formal and informal frameworks, involving government-to-government, private sector-to-private sector, and party-to-party relations. These efforts aim to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Jusuf Kalla also underlined the importance of enhancing connectivity between Cambodia and Indonesia through investor relations, people-to-people exchanges, and the promotion of tourism, with a particular focus on improving and expanding links between major tourist destinations in both countries. Furthermore, he exchanged views on regional and international issues, underscoring the need to build peace, stability, and prosperity in the region to ensure development, economic growth, and improved living standards for the people.
