Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the organising committee of the Khmer Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championships, which successfully took place on 18-20 October 2024. He expressed hope for increased participation in next year’s event.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Oct. 20) during the closing ceremony of the Samdech Thipadei Award for Khmer Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championships at the National Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh.

"It has been three days of competition, conducted with care and discipline. Although I was unable to attend in person until this evening, I closely followed the live broadcast from Indonesia. The three-day event ran smoothly, and I would like to thank the organizing committee," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that within a short period, the committee successfully organized the event, which was well attended by a large number of athletes from various federations and units. A total of 55 units, clubs, and federations participated.

Prime Minister Hun Manet observed that due to the limited space of the venue, this first event in 2024 was restricted to more than 400 participants. However, based on the experience gained this year, he believes that the participation will increase in the following year. He also extended his thanks to the 35 traditional martial arts elders who contributed to organizing and performing at the event.
