Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 24 – Thai Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that Cambodia and Thailand have traditional and long-standing relations, good neighbors with similar cultures. The minister noted that this shared heritage is a source of pride for both nations, fostering greater cooperation for the benefit of two peoples.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, on 23 October 2024 at the Peace Palace.

Taking this occasion, Anutin Charnvirakul pledged to further promote Thailand-Cambodia cooperation.

In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his satisfaction with the progress and strength of Cambodia-Thailand relations, as well as the positive outcomes of previous bilateral meetings at all levels, including cooperation between the Royal Government and border provinces.

The premier thanked the Thai government for reducing work visa fees, including renewal fees, and for waiving re-entry fees for Cambodian workers during the Khmer New Year.

Samdech Thipadei mentioned the permission granted to Thai citizens living in provinces bordering Cambodia to visit Siem Reap using border passes.

Both sides discussed cooperation in various sectors, particularly in defence and security, with a focus on combating cross-border crime. They expressed a shared goal of transforming the Cambodian-Thai border into one of peace, security, and prosperity for both nations.

Additionally, to promote trade, tourism, and people-to-people ties, the two sides discussed increasing the number of border crossings, with particular attention to the official opening of the Stung Bot-Ban Nang International Border Gate as soon as possible.
