Mondulkiri (FN), Oct. 24 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that regarding concerns over CLV-DTA, the people of Mondulkiri understand the evolving situation and the management and leadership in their province.
Samdech Thipadei stated that over the past 25 years, cooperation in the DTA has not compromised Cambodia's territorial integrity or the laws of the country.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Oct. 24) during the inauguration of O’ Te Dam in Mondulkiri province.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei stated that even though Cambodia has withdrawn from CLV cooperation, opposition groups abroad continue to incite and distort facts for political gain.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Those who fear losing Mondulkiri are not the people of Mondulkiri themselves. The residents are aware of their province and its governance. It is those who are distant who are more fearful."
Prime Minister Hun Manet added that while Cambodia was set to host the CLV-DTA meeting in December 2024, the decision to withdraw from the cooperation means that no such meeting will take place. He underlined that this decision aims to alleviate tensions among the people, particularly to reduce the incitement from extremist groups.
Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Royal Government has never considered compromising territorial integrity or national sovereignty to foreign entities. He added that overseas politicians persist in harassing the CLV-DTA, which risks creating divisions and confusion among Cambodians.
Please be noted that the Royal Government of Cambodia announced its withdrawal from the CLV-DTA on 20 September 2024, after 25 years of cooperation initiated by Cambodia. This withdrawal aims to "remove weapons from the hands of extremists" and prevent the potential use of CLV-DTA to deceive the Cambodian people.
