Kampong Cham (FN), Oct. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted that during the rainy season this year, Cambodia experienced minor flooding, while five other ASEAN countries were severely affected. Those countries are the Philippines, Viet Nam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.
The premier spoke on Saturday morning (Oct 26) during a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the China-Aid Project of Improving School Environment and Educational Facilities in Cambodia (CPISEEF), held at Samdech Hun Sen Peam Chi Kang High School in Kang Meas District, Kampong Cham Province.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei stressed the importance of preparedness by all relevant ministries and institutions, especially the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Ministry of Rural Development, the Capital and Provincial Administration, and the armed forces. These groups must be ready to protect the lives of people and animals, safeguard property, and support recovery efforts.
Prime Minister Hun Manet added that the Royal Government also needs the participation of the people. First, to maintain peace and stability, preventing external threats that could impact national security and political stability. Second, to help uphold public order, contribute to the "safe villages and communes" policy, prevent domestic violence and gang activities, and provide vocational training for youth. Third, to support livelihood development as part of the broader economic growth. Therefore, while the Royal Government is making these efforts, it is also crucial for the people to seize opportunities and join with the government in building the nation together.
