Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 1 – Cambodia and Qatar have begun a negotiation for a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) aimed at boosting trade and mutual investment, especially to benefit enterprises in the air and water transport sectors.
The first round of the negotiation was held on 21-24 October 2024 at the General Office of the Tax Authority in Doha, Qatar.
The Cambodian side was led by Seng Cheasith, Director of Legislation, Tax Policy and International Tax Cooperation of the General Department of Taxation (GDT), and Abdulla Ahmed Al-Sulaitl, Chief of Treaty and International Cooperation Department, General Tax Authority of Qatar.
Abdulla Ahmed Al-Sulaitl warmly welcomed the Cambodian delegation and underlined the importance of the DTA in expanding bilateral tax cooperation between Cambodia and Qatar. He expressed hopes for the swift conclusion of the talks.
Seng Cheasith expressed gratitude for the Qatari hospitality and commended Qatar's efforts in facilitating the first round of the negotiation. He echoed Qatar's desire to conclude the DTA discussions promptly and underscored the significance of this agreement in fostering trade growth and mutual investment, with a particular focus on benefiting enterprises in the air and water transport sectors between Cambodia and Qatar.
The two sides expressed shared commitment to working closely together to finalize the DTA.
