Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 8 – General Tea Seiha, Cambodian Minister of National Defence, reaffirmed that the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) are committed to safeguarding the constitution, the monarchy, the legitimate Royal Government, and the social achievements and interests of the Cambodian people, adding that the "colour revolution" is an enemy of the Cambodian people in this era of peace.
General Tea Seiha made these remarks on Friday (Nov. 8) during the celebration of the 71st anniversary of RCAF Day (9 November 1953 – 9 November 2024) at the Ministry of National Defence.
The minister highlighted that despite current challenges, the Royal Government of the seventh mandate, led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, has upheld stability in security, social order, and the economy, with all aspects of social life functioning normally.
"The RCAF remains steadfast in its commitment to defend the nation, uphold the religion, and protect the monarchy, the constitution, and the legitimate Royal Government. The forces stand fully prepared to execute the directives of the Royal Government, the Ministry of National Defence, and the General Command," said Minister Tea Seiha.
General Seiha also outlined that the army has implemented three strategic frameworks consisting of 10 operational and development activities, with the Royal Government focusing on protecting territorial integrity based on commitment, responsibility, discipline, and flexibility to uphold peace and strengthen border security.
In addition, he acknowledged the army's role in disaster relief and community aid, including responses to floods, hurricanes, droughts, and nationwide vaccination campaigns. These efforts demonstrate the alignment of the army with the people's defence policy, contributing to both disaster relief and COVID19 prevention.
Minister Tea Seiha further noted that today, the Cambodian people live in peace, prosperity, and harmony as one family. He condemned the "colour revolution" as an enemy of the people, describing it as a tactic used by extremist political factions and foreign elements to incite unrest, encouraging the public and the armed forces to overthrown the legitimate Royal Government and insult the monarchy. He labelled these acts as treason against the constitution, the king, and a threat to the peace, democracy, and freedom enjoyed by the Cambodian people.
The defence minister also urged the army to continue enhancing Cambodia's defence sector, strictly respecting the constitution, and adhering to both national and international laws. The RCAF must protect the nation’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, developing into a highly professional, disciplined force with unwavering loyalty to the nation and citizens. The RCAF will uphold all military rules, regulations, and statutes, serving as a true national defence force dedicated to protecting the nation, and citizens.
