Kep (FN), Nov. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that provinces with tourism potential must establish working groups to address tourist-related issues, and he expressed hope that incidents like the fried rice incident in Kep will not happen again.

The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 11) during an inauguration of the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road at Kep province.

Samdech Thipadei recalled that he had recently outlined the principles for establishing tourism groups, including the Southwestern group, which covers Kep, Kampot, Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear, as well as the Northeastern group, which includes Kratie, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakkiri. The goal of establishing these groups is to foster collaboration, create joint tourism programs, develop integrated tourism packages, and distribute destinations for tourists to visit.

Prime Minister Hun Manet also urged provincial administrations, especially those with tourism potential, to focus on service quality, pricing, and meeting the needs of tourists. Samdech Thipadei sent a message to the governor of Kep province, urging that incidents like the fried rice incident not be repeated.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "If there is a problem, the provincial administration must respond quickly and inform both tourists and the public immediately, as in the case of the fried rice incident in Kep province."

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet further underlined that provincial governors must have a clear vision to monitor and assess their province's potential, developing a proper plan for its growth. Additionally, civil servants, development partners, and operators must actively participate in the plan's implementation with integrity and precision. The private sector should also cooperate with authorities, departments, and specialised units to make their provinces more attractive.
