(Sao Paulo, Brazil): Dr. Kin Phea, Director General of the International Relations Institute of Cambodia (IRIC) at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, emphasized that building a community with a shared future is both a moral and practical imperative, requiring collective effort and solidarity driven by fairness, compassion, and shared success.

Dr. Phea delivered these remarks at the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum held in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 11-12. The event, themed "Development and Revitalization: A New Journey for the Global South," brought together around 350 representatives from over 170 media organizations, think tanks, governments, and enterprises across 70 countries, all working to strengthen economic and cultural ties among developing nations.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Phea highlighted the urgency of fostering a shared future amid rising geopolitical tensions and divisions in global systems. "Our histories, rich in diversity and resilience, allow us to bring fresh perspectives to global unity," he said, calling on Global South nations to lead by example, promoting cooperation over conflict, inclusivity over supremacy, and trust over division.

Using Cambodia's partnership with China as an example, Dr. Phea underscored the benefits of mutual learning, respect, and shared prosperity, suggesting it serves as a model for overcoming differences and fostering long-term partnerships. "Cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections have deepened trust, showing that coexistence—not supremacy—leads to sustainable progress," he noted.

Dr. Phea urged Global South nations to work together on pressing issues such as climate change, pandemics, poverty, and inequality. "By embracing our diversity and working together, we can build bridges, learn from one another, and create a more equitable global order," he stated, emphasizing that fairness and compassion must be guiding principles.

Recognizing China’s role in promoting a multipolar world within the UN framework, Dr. Phea praised its stance against unilateralism and exclusive blocs, calling it a pivotal force for stability and cooperation. "China sides with developing countries, advocates for them, offers assistance, and boosts their influence in international affairs," he affirmed.

He also stressed the critical role of media and think tanks in fostering dialogue and consensus within the Global South, advocating for high-quality research and publications that contribute to the shared future vision.

Looking forward, Dr. Phea expressed optimism, acknowledging the challenges ahead but affirming the possibility of a future where diversity is celebrated, cultures are respected, and prosperity is shared.

The forum’s platform is expected to reinforce solidarity and cooperation in the Global South, contributing to the broader goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
