Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet addressed concerns over the Koh Kood border dispute with Thailand, firmly stating that the Royal Government of Cambodia will not compromise the kingdom's territorial integrity.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Nov. 21) during a graduation of more than 8,000 students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“Border negotiations require time and careful preparation. This is our responsibility, and we will not lose our territory or sovereignty. Please trust us in this matter,” Samdech Thipadei underlined.
Samdech Thipadei added that the Royal Government is taking a mature, measured approach, not reacting impulsively. He advised that if older politicians are being erratic, the younger generation should avoid mimicking them.
Regarding the Koh Kood issue, the premier clarified that negotiations between Cambodia and Thailand are ongoing, and no agreement has been reached. Thus, claims that Koh Kood has been lost to Thailand are unfounded. He stressed that the government’s calm response is deliberate, aiming to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels rather than escalating tensions.
