Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Royal Government holds two key positions on the Koh Kood dispute: 1) political maturity, and 2) a commitment to protecting the nation's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Nov. 21) during a graduation of more than 8,000 students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet explained the Royal Government's stance on the Koh Kood issue, stating that its silence is based on two key principles: political maturity and responsibility for protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The premier described political maturity as involving three aspects: avoiding escalation, addressing issues with maturity, and adopting a pragmatic approach by conducting thorough research before taking action. Regarding responsibility, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that the border issue is long-term, and the Royal Government is firmly committed to safeguarding Cambodia's territorial integrity. He also highlighted the importance of resolving the matter peacefully, without resorting to violence.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also stated that the maritime border between Cambodia and Thailand has not yet been agreed upon.
