Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked the Ministry of Cults and Religions and the ceremonial team to reorganise the seating arrangement of the monks, citing that the current arrangement is entirely inappropriate. Samdech stated that the arrangement is being made based on rank rather than function or role.
Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (Nov. 21) during the opening of the 32nd National Congress of Buddhist Monks at the National Institute of Education.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo also requested the Ministry of Cults and Religion to revisit the issue of the seat of the monks, ensuring that it is properly arranged according to function and not merely based on receiving high rank or respect. The seating arrangement should be in accordance with the roles, and the seat of the monks must be positioned at the forefront.
