Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen instructed all priests to respect the wishes of the couple or their parents when making decisions regarding the placement of the groom during weddings. He underlined that priests should not argue with the couple or their families about such matters.
Samdech Techo spoke on Thursday (Nov. 21) during the opening of the 32nd National Congress of Buddhist Monks at the National Institute of Education.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "I would like to remind the priests that this is the wedding season. It is common to hear debates about whether the groom should be placed on the left or the right. I have discussed this matter with several priests, and the general practice is that the groom is traditionally placed on the left, while the bride is placed on the right. However, the Ministry of Cults and Religions has no objections to how this is handled."
