Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on partner countries granting political asylum to review the actions of individuals who incite public unrest or rebellion. He noted that some activities may even exceed the legal boundaries of the host countries.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Nov. 21) at the closing of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Mines and Energy at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

"Ambassadors, we already have one so-called exile prime minister, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister Sam Sary. Now, there is an effort to form another exile government abroad. I am not sure whether such actions align with the laws of democratic nations. More importantly, actions like those of August 18, which involved violence and attempts to overthrow the legitimate Royal Government, should not be incited,” the premier underlined.

Samdech Tipadei continued, “Please do not allow these activities to mislead the public and sow confusion. I urge friendly countries, especially those that support democracy based on the rule of law, to counsel individuals engaged in such activities within their borders to refrain from incitement or any actions that violate legal norms—norms that would not even be acceptable in their host countries.”

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei clarified that this appeal is not a threat but a constructive proposal aimed at ensuring stability and promoting solutions in the national interest. He reaffirmed that the Royal Government will not permit a small group of extremists to destabilize the nation.
