Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Honorary Chairman of the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), expressed his pride that Cambodia has hosted the ICAPP General Assembly twice and hopes the country will have the opportunity to host the event for a third and fourth time in the future.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke on Friday (Nov. 22) during the opening ceremony of the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP at the CPP’s headquarters.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored, "I am very proud that the General Assembly has been held 12 times, and Cambodia has had the honour of hosting it twice. As for ASEAN, I have chaired the ASEAN Summit three times, so it is not unusual for Cambodia to participate in the framework of ICAPP twice. I hope that in the future, we will have the opportunity to host it again for a third and fourth time."

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also praised the strength of the ICAPP, which has grown steadily since its founding in 2000 and has become one of the most influential political party organisations in both geographic and political terms.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo underlined that he was proud to lead the CPP in participating in ICAPP activities, including its General Assembly, which brings together 300 political parties with a variety of political ideologies and tendencies. He added that the theme "A Quest for Peace and Reconciliation" was one that Cambodia has significant experience in and can share. He underlined Cambodia’s long struggle to end conflict and its success in achieving peace and prosperity for more than three decades.
